CITB & BPHA provided students from St Thomas More Upper with an opportunity to explore professional aspects of the housing sector and town centre development.

Twelve students aged 14/15 years old were provided with this unique opportunity.  They started with a team building exercise which proved very challenging. 

Next they had to form companies and put their plans and bids forward for constructing a housing site providing utilities, housing and roads using the “Morrison City Game”.  This developed planning, design and costing skills.

Following on the students then had a chance to see BPHA’s CAD package which is used to redesign and renovate existing properties to new specifications.

The day ended with a visit to the town centre to view the area which is part of the redevelopment programme.

What did the students like? “The building and planning activity, looking at the town centre development, team building exercise, lunch, everything, it was brilliant”
