This workshop is a new one this year, the equipment having been provided by sponsorship from the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. It can be tailored to individual school requirements. Meccano is a versatile steel construction kit with the added feature of fixings, rather than the K’Nex/LEGO approach of snap together. This feature makes the students think about connecting up and the effect of loose fixings on the overall structure.
Topics that can be looked at include levers, linkages, mechanical systems, prototyping for mechanical toys etc. The sets can accommodate a class of 30 students in groups of three. Please contact us if you have any queries about how this workshop could fit in with your Science or Technology studies.
